About Me

Who is this lady you'll be seeing one period a day for the next 180 school days?

I'm a WMHS graduate, class of 1998. Thanks to some amazing English teachers and because of my love of writing and reading, teaching seemed a natural fit for me.

I left the "Wu" for Wildcat country, majoring in English and Secondary Education and minoring in Dance at UNH. I stayed an extra year up north, as a graduate student at UNH, to complete a full-year internship at Portsmouth High School.

After five years in the fresh air of New Hampshire, I decided it was time to once again don black and orange. I am now entering my 13th year of teaching back home and love what I do.

Aside from school and career, I have an amazing family. (As you can tell from our picture, we're pretty fun people). My husband and I are parents to an extremely independent six-year-old daughter, Evelyn, and a mischievous three-year-old son, Colin.

On the rare occasions I have time to myself, I love to curl up with a book and escape into new worlds. My favorite type of book is historical fiction, but I also love memoirs and some fantasy novels as well. Check out the "What I'm Reading" tab to see my current read, my reviews and the books I've read since January 2014.

Here's to a great school year!

Mrs. Gillis
